If we want our children to become lifelong readers, we must show them how to maintain a reading habit when life gets busy. Family members and school communities must work together to provide strong reading environments for children that include positive reading role models.
ReadingYour child must meet certain reading levels each year- certain benchmarks in order to promote to the next grade level. We both want your child to succeed in reading and writing. Becoming a "capable" reader takes practice- it does not magically happen. Children must read and read often in order to form the habits and behaviors of successful readers.
Please set aside at least 20 minutes every night to work with your child in reading. Reading out loud and retelling what you read is one of the most effective reading remedies available. Reading tips will be sent home with your child weekly. Thank you for your support! |

Reading is a complex process.MY MISSION: I help all students read and write in order to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world!
Together we can assure that your child is ready for tomorrow! TIPS: 1.Provide a consistent time and place to read together. Make it a positive experience so that your child will look forward to your time together.
2. Practice at least three to four nights a week for at least 20 min. The extra practice reading out loud with school materials can help your child read more fluently, accurately, smoothly and with expression. 3. Listen to your child read. This is an effective way to help your child become a better reader. The effort you take to make this an enjoyable time can also help your child have a positive attitude about school. 4. Talk with your child about what he or she is reading. This will help your child understand what they are reading. 5. Talk with your child’s teacher. Know what has been assigned for reading homework and help your child keep on task. |
Does it look right?
